Mary Charlotte Van Leuven, 75, of Topeka, KS journeyed into heaven Tuesday, April 19, 2022, surrounded by her loving family at Stormont-Vail Hospital.
She was born July 9, 1946, in Marianna, Arkansas the daughter of Reverend James Earl, Sr. and Vennie Taylor.
Mary worked for over fifteen years as a cashier at Target until her retirement in 2019. Mary was a partner to her husband during his years in the ministry. She also enjoyed helping him in his public accounting office.
Mary's life was fulfilled through giving in many ways, from being a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher and helping out as a home room Mother. Her daughters' always had her support in their many activities growing up. Mary enjoyed participating as a Legion of Honors Lady with her husband in the activities at Arab Shriners in Topeka.
Mary was delighted with the time that she spent outdoors admiring the birds, gardening her vegetables, and watching her flowers grow. She loved bringing nature to a canvas through her paintings. She found enjoyment in reading, cooking, singing and praising the Lord!
Mary married Jerald Van Leuven on March 23, 1967, in Marianna, AR. He survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Sabrina (James) Struck, Linda (Larry) Dain and Elizabeth Van Leuven, a sister, Margaret (Larry) Applen and a sister-in-law, Lucille Taylor. Nine grandchildren, Stephanie (Christopher) Wallace, Michelle (Michael) Elert, Nicole Saunders, Brandon Worthington, Ariel Geidel, Brittney Saunders, Breanna Saunders, Shock Holt, Mariah Dain and four great-grandchildren, Sierra Jackson, Josie Jackson, and Noah Jackson, and Amelia Wallace also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend James Earl, Sr. and Vennie Taylor and a brother, James Earl Taylor, Jr.
With the overwhelming loss, her husband and daughters would love to have this time to morn privately. We would be honored to invite our family and friends for her Celebration of Life on her birthday, July 9, 2022. Vistiation will begin at 10:00 am with services beginning at 10:30 am at the Arab Shrine Temple,1305 S. Kansas Avenue, Topeka, KS 66612.
