Mary Lynn McInteer

March 26, 1944 — May 18, 2026

Topeka, Kansas

Mary Lynn McInteer, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, faithful Catholic, loyal friend, and dedicated volunteer whose kindness and generosity touched countless lives.

She worked for many years at Kansas Power and Light/Westar Energy in Topeka, where she was deeply valued by her coworkers and leadership alike. She formed lasting friendships throughout her career and was known for her warmth, dedication, and thoughtful spirit.

A lifelong lover of nature and the outdoors, she found great joy in gardening and volunteering. As a Master Gardener, she dedicated many hours to the Ted Ensley Gardens in Topeka and also volunteered at the Konza Prairie Biological Station near Manhattan. She took special pride in the beauty of her own gardens at home.

She also faithfully volunteered for many years with Ballet Midwest during its annual production of The Nutcracker, where she worked backstage on headset coordinating set and scene changes. Her calm presence and reliability made her someone others could always count on.

Her Catholic faith was central to her life. She attended Mass faithfully at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Topeka, where she sat in the same pew each Sunday, and she devoted many hours each week to Eucharistic Adoration. She also attended mass for several years at Seven Dolars Catholic Church in Manhattan, KS

She was a loving mother to Anne, Janet, Wendy, and Amy, and a proud grandmother to Trent, Kyle, Bryn, Tyler, and Henry. Her family was the center of her life, and she was always ready to offer help, comfort, laughter, and steadfast support.

She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, love of books, wonderful sense of humor, devotion to others, and her love of all things British. She was a steadfast friend over many decades and someone who made people feel cared for simply by being present.

A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, May 21 at 10:00 a.m. at Seven Dolors Catholic Church and burial following the service at Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.

She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
