Mary Curry Cohoon

September 29, 1930 — December 18, 2015

Mary (Harlow) Curry Cohoon passed away after a short illness, on Friday December 18, 2015. She was born on September 29, 1930, in her beloved hometown of Kingman, Kansas to Eugene and Agnes Harlow.

Mary attended Kingman schools, and went on to graduate from Wichita State University with a degree in Speech and Language Pathology. She was the director of the field center for the Institute of Logopedics in Topeka before entering into a private practice. In later years, she was on the faculty of Kickapoo Nation Schools as a speech therapist for the children. She was active in the Episcopal Church, Topeka Civic Theater, and music, as well as community organizations including Chapter EP, P.E.O.; Minerva Literary and Music Club; and the Topeka Junior League.

She married Don A. Curry on February 23rd, 1952. He preceded her in death in 1990. She is survived by 4 children: Lisa (Steve) Wilde of Topeka, George T. (Harriett) Curry of Dallas, TX, Peggy (Tom) Zerger of Wichita, KS, and Mike (Anita) Curry of Topeka, and 6 grandchildren, Kathryn, Scott, Sam, John, Stephanie and Spencer.

She was married to The Reverend Frank N. Cohoon on March 1st, 1992. He survives. Also surviving are step-children Leslie (Amy) Cohoon, Brian (Syvilla) Cohoon, and Cathy (Kermit) Wolford, 4 step-grandchildren, Austin, Whitney, Todd and Deanna, and 1 step-great-grandchild, Addison.

A celebration of life will be held Monday December 28th 10:00 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Cathedral, Topeka, Kansas. Interment will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Kingman, Kansas (private).
