Martha Jo Bishop, 79, graduated to Heaven on August 28, 2025, at Saint Luke's Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.
A celebration of her life will take place at 10:30 AM, with visitation at 9:30 AM, on Friday, September 12, at Topeka Bible Church in Topeka, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, Martha would cherish donations to Cair Paravel Latin School's tuition fund.
Martha was born on July 21, 1946, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Herbert Heitschmidt and Edna Heitschmidt. She was a graduate of Lamar Colorado High School and the School of Cosmetology at Lamar Junior College.
She married Harry Bishop on February 11, 1967, in Scott City, Kansas. He survives. Martha had been a resident of Topeka since 2010.
Martha was a member of Topeka Bible Church. Her passion in life was to teach children about Jesus. For more than 35 years, she was involved in puppet ministry and teaching Sunday school. Martha also owned and operated a business that distributed puppets.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Rechelle Bishop of Parkville, Missouri, and April Phillips and her husband, Clay, of Lawrence, Kansas; her brother, Glenn Heitschmidt, and his wife, Susan, of Prescott, Kansas. Martha is also survived by one granddaughter, seven grandsons, six great-grandchildren, and many other family members and friends.
