Mark, age 58, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 14, 2015, in Emporia, KS. He was born April 2, 1956, in Kansas City, KS. He was the son of Neal and Gladys Wright. Mark was united in marriage to Mary on September 25, 1999.
He lived most of his life in Shawnee, KS., graduating from Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, later attending Johnson County Community College. He was a long time employee of Marley Heating and Cooling as a machinist.
Mark enjoyed all things trains and railroads; oftentimes he would park his car and watch trains at various locations. He enjoyed reading about Kansas ghost towns, history books of any kind and historical biographies of famous people. Mark enjoyed long rides in the country looking at the pastures, old buildings, and towns. Hockey was a sport he enjoyed immensely, and he followed closely.
Mark is survived by his wife Mary of the home. He often said Mary was the love of his life and the day he married her was the happiest day of his life. He kept their wedding picture where he could look at it each day.
Mark is survived by 2 step-children: Vikki (Rob) Mundy of Garnett, KS., and Ted (Kristin) Paulsen of Houston, TX. He had 5 step-grandchildren: Blake Paulsen, Rachel and Grant Mundy, Kendall Paulsen and Olivia Mundy.
He is also survived by his mother Gladys of Lenexa, KS., and grandmother Gertrude Jones of Raytown, MO. Mark has 2 siblings: Cindy (Ray) Follmer and Jeff Wright of Kearney, MO. He has 4 nieces: Rayna and Tara Follmer, Mary and Olivia Wright, and a nephew Ian Wright.
Mark was preceded in death by his father Neal Wright, grandfather Earl Jones, and nephew Aaron Follmer.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at Shawnee Bible Church in Shawnee, KS., at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 21. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m.
