Mark A. Wofford

September 18, 1958 — February 24, 2017

Mark A. Wofford ended his battle with cancer February 21st, 2017. He was a meat cutter for 39 years. Starting at Harry's IGA, and finishing his career at Dillons. Mark was born September 18th, 1958 in Wichita, KS to Walter and JoAnne Wofford of Topeka, KS. Mark will leave behind one son, Mitchell, and two daughters, Erica, (Aaron Crume) and Stephanie (Roger A. Laubengayer-Mena) all of Topeka, KS. Mark will also be leaving behind two sisters Kathy Jo Wofford of Parsons, KS and Gayle (David Steinbach) of Topeka, KS.

Mark married Lori Jean Myers May 3rd, 1990 in Topeka, KS. Together they had the three children, Mitchell, Erica, and Stephanie. The family enjoyed having BBQ's and other gatherings with both sides of the family. Mark and Lori took the children to many area parks to hang out and feed the ducks, along with many camping trips and road trips to visit their aunts and uncles. They were together for 13 years and later divorced. As a single father raising the children, they spent a lot of time with Walt and JoAnne on weekends and breaks.

Mark went to Toledo, Ohio where he trained to become a certified meat cutter in 1978. He worked in many grocery stores throughout his career of 39 years. He was very proud of his profession and made many friends at each store he worked at. All his coworkers talked highly of him and enjoyed joking around with him to get through the days.

Mark enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad and extended family. As a child, he collected snakes, GI Joes, hotwheels, and sports cards. Mark also enjoyed country side cruises in the car to watch wildlife, especially bald eagles. His other hobbies included gardening, grilling, and card games on the computer. Each week he played Powerball and Kansas cash. Mark was a KU, Royals, and Chiefs fan. He never missed a game.

In his later years, he enjoyed watching his children grow up and start their careers. He enjoyed numerous pets throughout his life time. Mark was a cat person and had two cats at the time of his passing. Tiger and Albus were his best buddies. He also loved his daughters' dogs Rucka and Sheba.

He left behind a loving family and many friends. Though Mark had no grandchildren he got to enjoy the love from McKenna and Emma. Stephanie's best friend Megan brought the girls over to Mark's house often.

Due to Mark's health Stephanie had a bedside wedding ceremony to Roger A. Laubengayer-Mena with many family and friends at the Midland Hospice House. Mark fully participated in this celebration.

A brief memorial will be held Monday February 27th, 2017 at 2 pm followed by a visitation until 5 pm. The services will be held at First Christian Church 1800 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS.
