Marjorie Rose Nordyke Jacques

Marjorie Rose Nordyke Jacques, 94.5 years old, passed away December 29, 2022 at her home.

She was born July 11, 1928, in Ottawa, KS, the daughter of Ray and Lillian (Machlan) Nordyke.

Marjorie spent most of her youth in Ottawa. Her work history started with babysitting jobs and progressed to working in the local Scott's 5 and 10 store on Main St. Marjorie's brother, Robert, was six years older than her and had a steady job, so he paid Marjorie's way to Topeka to attend Clark's Business School. Blue Cross Blue Shield was Marjorie's first job out of business school. She also worked for a time at Security Benefit, and then for 17 years at Radiology and Nuclear Medicine as a bookkeeper. Marvin and Marjorie were married in early 1950. After their second child was born in 1952, they found and purchased a property north of Topeka for their growing family. The property had a three-room house with only an outhouse at the time. They later replaced it with the house they built there. This land would become their forever home and Marjorie resided there for 70 years until her death. Marjorie loved her family, roses, and cats.

She is survived by three children, Martin Jacques, Marcella Jacques Seager, Marc A. Jacques, along with six grandchildren: Terra (Jacques) Taylor, Caitlin (Jacques) Santacroce, Chrystal Seager Twilley, Justin Jacques, Danielle Jacques Mack, Raven Jacques. Marjorie also has twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin B. Jacques a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Nordyke.

A memorial service will begin at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Grace Baptist Church, 1110 NE Michigan Ave, Topeka, KS.
