Marilyn Joan Robinson Williams
Marilyn Joan Robinson Williams began her journey as the youngest daughter of Charlie B. and Lula Mae Eslick Robinson on January 17, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Of course, as the youngest sister Marilyn mastered the art of manipulation, sometimes embellished with fabrications, especially after her youngest brother, Alfred Ray, was born a year later.
As a little girl she often sang, "Sing Little Brook", which was taught to her by her sisters. Their ingenuity allowed her to prevail over stuttering making her childhood and school days at Green Pastures Elementary School, in Spencer Oklahoma more enjoyable. As Marilyn entered her teen years and attended Star Spencer High School, she found she had the gift of dancing. Marilyn danced like a professional without ever having a dance lesson. After graduation she later relocated to Kansas City, Missouri where 3 of her 5 older sisters resided with the aspirations of becoming a model attending modeling school and participating in the CETA Vocational Program.
Much later, after working in various capacities, education, hospitals, nursing homes and with charities Marilyn met Samuel Williams. After a long courtship they married in 2005.
Marilyn attended church at St. Paul Baptist Church under Pastor Smith in Spencer, Oklahoma. The family has fond memories of her sitting in the choir stand with Sister Smith, Pastor Smith's wife. Marilyn was baptized along with 3 of her sisters, Catherine, Rosie, and Helen at the age of 6. When she relocated to Kansas City, she immediately joined Morning Star Baptist Church with her sisters and family. Once she married Samuel she relocated to Topeka, Kansas where she was an active member of Second Baptist Church with Pastor Bill Nicholson.
On January 16, 2024, Marilyn entered into rest, until Jesus returns, with her parents, Charlie B. and Lula Mae Robinson, sister, Jessie Mae Stone, brothers Charlie D. Robinson, Earnest Eugene Robinson and those siblings that went to sleep in infancy Leroy, Kathleen and Dorothy Jean Robinson.
