Mari Jane Toso, 62 of Emporia, Kansas, died peacefully in her home. She had fought more than one battle against cancer, but said her final goodbye on July 2, 2015. She is survived by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, in-laws, and friends and family in Kansas, Texas, Missouri, and Massachusetts. Mari was born on December 23, 1952 in St Louis, Missouri. She was one & only precious child of Doyle Lindell and Pauline (Polly) Blackwell Evans of Kansas City. Mari spent her childhood in Missouri & Kansas, graduated high school from Barstow School in Kansas City, and attended University of Kansas. She married the love of her life, Wallace E. Toso, on January 8, 1994 and enjoyed sixteen years of wedded bliss until Wally's death on April 29, 2010. Being married to a railroader, they lived in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Elgin, Illinois, and 14 years in Keller, Texas. Mari worked at TRC and USPS in Ft worth, and enjoyed working at Memories &Treasures. Mari was a Kansas girl at heart, returning to Emporia after her mother's death November 10, 2012. Mari was a generous and giving woman who dearly loved her family and friends. She was a wonderful listener and enjoyed family gatherings. She loved gardening, always had plenty of herbs and vegetables for her favorite recipes. Mari was a great cook. She enjoyed antiques and doing crafts with her friends. Mari was an animal lover and rescued and saved many a litter of feral kittens, including her kitty, Scamp. She loved her dog, Jake, and he was her faithful companion. She took him on many trips from Texas and New Mexico to Kansas. An angel on this earth, she now joins Wally where their love will continue. Memorial Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Mari's memory to Hand in Hand Hospice.
