Marcy D. Bilynsky passed into the afterlife, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, August 17, 2024. Marcy was born in Merced California, the daughter of Senior Master Sargent Kenith Edens and Dottie Edens. She moved in following the career of her father to Oklamoma, then England for 4 years where she first came to love horses. This was followed by two bases in Texas, a return to England, with her dad's final posting in Topeka Kansas.
She is survived by her mother Dottie, her husband of 48 years, Gene, her sisters Nancy and Shari, her son Christopher, his significant other Nicole, and granddaughter Amira. Her Daughter Andrea, her husband Ben, and grandsons Charles and Oliver. She has 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
She is a graduate of Topeka West HS, Bergen Community College when she earned her RN licence, followed by a BSN at Washburn University. Marcy worked a number of medical facility and service positions before settling in at the Colmery O'Neil VA for an approximate three decade career. Marcy worked as a psychiatric nurse, nurse manager, headed the VA Mental Hygiene Clinic, and ended her career as a suicide prevention nurse. She co developed the VA Equine Psychotherapy Program.
Marcy has requested no offers of flowers or cards. Anyone wishing to honor Marcy's beliefs and love of humanity and horses can choose to contribute to the Marcy VA Equine Psychotherapy Program fund. Details to follow. All such collections to directly benefit future veteran participation at the R&D Ranch in Topeka, KS. This is a program Marcy deeply believed in while at the VA and well into her retirement. She shared her horses , knowledge , and heart. She will be missed, but not forgotten.
