Marc Edward Fisher, 77 passed February 2, 2026 at KU Med Center surrounded by his family. He was born December 25, 1948 in Topeka, Kansas to Carl A. Fisher and Nellie M. Waetzig Fisher.
Marc was preceded in death by his parents and his son Shannon Lee Fisher. He is survived by his wife Anne Tucker-Casebeer-Fisher, daughter Candice (Roy) Phillips of Topeka, KS, daughter Paige Fisher and son Grant Fisher of Overland Park, KS, his step children Jason Murray, Shannon (Kim) Casebeer of Manhattan, KS and Erin (J) Smith of San Diego, CA and his grandchildren Christopher, Kai, Brendon, Collin, Lucas, Jenna, Kyle, Darian and Cole, his brother Craig Fisher of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, sister Nancy (Larry) Lang of Overbrook, KS, sister Jeanne (Jerry) Mehl of El Dorado, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews.
Marc grew up in Carbondale, KS, where he graduated from Carbondale High School in 1966 then began his academic studies at his beloved University of Kansas. He was drafted into the Army and served honorably in Vietnam; he was wounded in battle and awarded the purple heart. He then completed the remainder of his time in the Army stateside. After his service, he moved back to Kansas and dedicated more than 30 years working for the electric company and then the gas company in Topeka writing computer code for their customer service department. Marc retired from One Oak in 2009.
Marc was married to Brenda Holmes from 1970-1975.
He was married to Patricia McGuire from 1986 - 1994.
Marc’s many natural gifts of writing, art, humor, music, mechanics and more were passed down to his children. His love for them kept him in Topeka for the remainder of his days, where he reconnected with his first love, Anne and they had 21 years together, He spent his days in retirement playing computer games and had friends from around the world who kept in contact through internet chatrooms, multi-player games, etc. He loved music videos, dance videos, and puppy pages on Facebook. And he never missed a KU game on TV.
Although Marc did NOT want a dog, Molly came to live with him and Anne, whence Marc and Molly formed a bond that was hilarious and adorable. They were each other’s emotional support.
Marc’s last gift to the world was the generous donation of his brain to study for science to help future military service personnel, as well as the gift of tissue donation to help other accident survivors. This good man will be so greatly missed by all.
His family will host a Celebration of Life in the spring. Date to be announced and information will be posted on Facebook. Memorial contributions can be made to Helping Hands Humane Society of Topeka or the Wounded Warrior Project.
