Louis David Wiggins, Jr. was born August 24, 1950 to Louis David Wiggins, Sr. and Mary Lee Williams in Lubbock, TX.
Louis, who went by his middle name, David was raised in Odessa, TX and attended public school there. After graduating from Ector High School, David joined the U.S. Army. He served in the 1st Infantry Division, served one tour in Vietnam and had duty stations in Korea and Germany. When he returned to the United States, his duty station was in Washington, DC where he was assigned as a Sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers. David's last duty station was in Fort Stewart, Georgia.
In 1977, David met Renee Walker in Salina, KS while stationed at Ft. Riley, KS. They married June 3, 1978. Together they had two daughters, Melanie Antoinette and Kimberly Denise.
After discharging from the military, David moved his family to Odessa, TX. While in Odessa, David worked in security and eventually worked in the oil fields as a truck driver. David and his family moved to Denver, CO in 1985. In 1995, David and Renee divorced. David remained in Denver and worked as an over the road truck driver until his health failed him. In 2015, because of his failing health, David moved to Topeka, KS to be closer to his daughter, Melanie.
David was preceded in death by his father and mother, his step-father, Leroy Davis; his sisters, Barbara and Sharon Williams; his brothers, Sammy, Barry and Gary Williams; his daughter Kimberly Wiggins.
Left to mourn is passing, his daughter Melanie Wiggins; grandsons KaCee Wiggins and Jon'Quil Phelps; granddaughter, Kamari Wiggins; great granddaughters Ce'Rose and MyAlee Davis, all of Topeka, KS; two brothers Michael and Terry Williams, Midland, TX; four nephews Timothy and Christopher Williams, Odessa, TX; Lateef Grubbs and Jesse Williams; two nieces Nicole Williams and Ilda Williams; a host of great-nephews, great-nieces and friends.
