Louis Junior Johnico

March 19, 1950 — October 19, 2020

Louis Junior Johnico died suddenly at the age of 70 on October 19, 2020 in his home in Topeka, Kansas.   He was born on March 19, 1950 in Talihina, Oklahoma.  His parents were Louis and Lorency Johnico.  He is preceded in death by his oldest sister, Myrtle King.  He is survived by sisters Edna Johnico, Suzette Sims, and Mildred King and their families.  His brother, John Johnico lives in Kansas City with his family.    He had one child, Cindi Joyce Johnico and a grandson, Cletus White.    He adopted his two granddaughters, Mykala Cheyanne Johnico and Jayda Ayiana Johnico; who are now with his wife of 35 years, Dawn Johnico.

Louis graduated from Haskell Indian Nations University and from The University of Kansas with a Masters in Accounting and Information Systems.  He had a love of learning and taught at the Haskell Indian Nations University also.   He had a drywall company for many years, and held many other jobs throughout his lifetime.  One that he particularly liked was working for the Potawatomie Nation as a Grant Specialist.

He was a great sports fan and also loved to participate.  He played softball, bowled and entered many running events throughout his life.  He will always be remembered for his sense of fairness and kindness.  He also shared a great sense of humor with others and could always make you laugh.  He was deeply spiritual and always believes that God would take care of he and his family.  He will be greatly missed.

Graveside services will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Spencer, Oklahoma on November 28, 2020.
