Lori Rae (Westerfield) Nottestad

February 5, 1963 — November 18, 2025

Lori Rae (Westerfield) Nottestad, 62, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on November 18, 2025, after a long battle with medical issues. Lori was born on February 5th, 1963, in Topeka, KS. to Larry and Gertrude Westerfield.

Lori was involved in 4-H growing up and participated in raising and showing rabbits and horses. This started a connection and love for animals being a member and officer of the Shawnee County 4-H Horse Club. She was an avid swimmer, took lessons and received her Life Saving Certification as a young girl. When attending HPHS, she was on the wrestling cheerleading squad cheering on wrestlers to state championships. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1981.

Lori married Francis Marion Creek on May 2, 1981, and they welcomed two daughters, April Rae Creek and Alison Fae Creek. On May 30, 1991, she married Mondo Ray Nottestad, and together they had a son, Mondo Ray Nottestad II.

She was a fierce competitor in pool and was proud to be a part of her women's team, The Barracudas, who competed in nationals in Las Vegas. She was known for holding and running the table, often embarrassing her kids as they got older and couldn't go anywhere without her showing their friends up in a friendly game of pool! She also loved skating and was famous for winning limbo contests on the rink floor!

She enjoyed participating in her kid's activities where you could often hear her yelling at the coaches, her kids, and even other parents, often causing a ruckus! She loved her grandchildren and always had something special for them when she visited. Later in life, you wouldn't see her without her dogs, she loved them dearly and they went everywhere with her!

Lori will be remembered most for her love of horses, competing in horse shows, shooting pool, hanging out with friends at VanVleck's-anywhere there was fun to be had, and having hundreds of horse show and pool trophies on display!

Lori is survived by her three children, April (Michael) Creek-Gleason, Alison (Max) Creek-Connelly, Mondo Nottestad II, and eight grandchildren: Brodie, Breylan, Braxton, Gracie, Dalan, Stone, Sydka, and Annistyn.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Midwest Cremation.  Sent in care of Midwest Cremation, 525 SE 37th Street, Topeka, KS 66605.
