Loretta “Rita” Jeanette Johnson

August 1, 1927 — August 30, 2014

Loretta "Rita" Jeanette Johnson, 87, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, August 30, 2014, at St. Francis Health Center, in Topeka Kansas.

Rita was born on August 1, 1927, a daughter of the late Dewey Basil Terry and Anna Mae Terry, in Coffeeville, Kansas. Because of her father's work in the oil-fields, she attended various schools across Kansas. She married the late Harold "Jack" Wayne Johnson on July 20, 1946. They had six children, Harold Wayne Johnson Jr, Oskaloosa, John Lawrence Johnson, Topeka, Donna Lucille Corcoran-McDaniel, Oskaloosa, Terry Lee Johnson, Topeka, James Ray Johnson (deceased), Judy Kay Newman, Topeka. She had 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Rita worked as a sales clerk, in Topeka, for over 40 years. Her greatest pride and joy was her children and grand children. There wasn't a moment she thought of anything else (unless KU or the Royals were on). She was a wonderful mother and grandmother to all her children. Her heart was always open and ready to give. She will be so missed!

She was predeceased by her husband, Jack, in 1996, her devoted son, Jimmy, in 1994, her loving grandson, Troy, in 1987, siblings, Frank Terry, Cecil Terry, and Lyla George.

She leaves her loving memories to be cherished by her loving sister, Donna Kampfer, of McLouth, her brothers, Jerry Terry, of McLouth, and Delbert Terry, of McLouth.

There will be no funeral service by Rita's request. Private inurnment is planned. Donations may be made in Rita's name to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org.
