Lonnie Dean Harris

d. November 20, 2017

Lonnie Dean Harris was a man of great integrity and dedication. Whatever he did, was done with all of his heart, intellect, and soul. There were no short cuts in his life, and the "right way" was the "only way" for Lonnie.

This included his 32 year career at Frito-Lay, where he earned a reputation as a person who put work first, so there would be no misunderstanding when he demanded that others give their best to the job. His beliefs included: If you miss work or call in sick, you hurt others; stay until the job is done; and leave everything running, fixed, and ready for the next shift. To those whom he taught classes or procedures at Frito-Lay, they always knew where they stood with their instructor, as he would call it exactly as he saw it. If Lonnie thought you were blowing smoke or mailing it in, he'd be quick to say so, and get more out of you. Lonnie was very proud of his role within the company, but never prideful. He understood the value of teamwork, and that all needed to contribute their own individual part for the sake of the whole.

Outside of work, Lonnie was more laid back, yet he still had the penchant for detail and organization that defined his life. He collected movies, sports memorabilia, model cars and trucks, and yes, books, hundreds and hundreds of books. Reading was certainly Lonnie's favorite thing to do. When he and Janice moved to their new home at the farm, they had to devote one whole U-Haul truck load just to the boxes filled with Lonnie's books. Reading was Lonnie's way of relaxing and resting his body, whether it be from action books, historical, or whodunnit's. He also loved to be outside, and it did not matter whether he was fishing, riding the lawn mower, riding his ATV, shooting a gun, or doing chores….. because whenever he was outdoors, he did not have a care in the world.
