Lois Juanita Urbanek

March 1, 1935 — April 24, 2024

Lois Juanita Urbanek died on April 24, 2024, in Overbrook, Kansas. Lois was born to Howard and Dorothy Timbers on March 1, 1935, in Sterling, Kansas. Lois graduated from Sterling High School in 1953.

Lois worked in banking, working at Capital City Bank, in Topeka, for many years. However, her main job was being a mom and homemaker taking care of her husband and sons, which was truly a full-time job. While she was working at Capital City Bank, she worked with Georgia Neese Clark Gray (First woman Treasurer of the United States 1949-53), for a time. She was really fond of Mrs. Gray and thought she was really a neat lady.

Lois was very involved in the church and attended regularly the Free Methodist Church, while living in Topeka and the Carbondale Church of Christian Fellowship, while living in Carbondale.

Lois was married to Roland Ray Urbanek on October 3, 1956, in Inglewood, California. Lois and Roland had a child, Randall Craig, who passed shortly after birth, due to health complications. They raised two other sons, Raymond Alan (Kerrie) and Barry Jay.

Lois is survived by her son Barry, daughter-in-law Kerrie Urbanek and step-grandson Dustin Chase (Alex). She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roland, her sister Shirley Soukup (Robert), her sister Wanda Urbanek (Ben), her son Randall Craig and son Raymond Alan.

Cremation is planned with no memorial service, per her wishes. Memorial contributions can be made to ASPCA.
