Lloyd Hobert Nutter Jr., 80, of Seneca, Kansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 3, at Bridge Haven Assisted Living, Lawrence, KS.
Lloyd was born to the late Hobert and Kathryn Nutter on March 4, 1943, at his home in Seneca. He graduated from Seneca High School in 1961. Soon after High School, he joined the Army Reserves where he served his country for 6 years.
He played guitar in a band, The Echos, where he met his wife, Leila Reed while playing at the Soldier prom. Lloyd and Leila were married on February 14, 1969, at the Christian Church in Soldier, Kansas. Lloyd and Leila raised their two daughters in Seneca. He worked at CR Industries, later SKF USA Inc. from the time it opened until he retired in 2009. Lloyd was a member of the Seneca United Methodist Church. He was well known for his sense of humor and telling great stories. Lloyd would often be seen taking walks around town and having coffee with his friends. He enjoyed watching classic movies and detective shows on TV as well as collecting various kinds of pipes and cigars. Lloyd frequently got together with friends to play the guitar. He was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Leila, parents, and brother, Paul Nutter. He is survived by two daughters, Tracee (Quentin) Davis of Oskaloosa, and Darcee (Mel) Zehm of Hammond, Wisconsin; and five grandchildren, Annika, Luke, Caleb, Jack, and Jacob. He is also survived by one sister, Peggy Thomas of Gardnerville, NV.
A graveside service will be held at a later time at Soldier Cemetery, Soldier, KS.
