Linda James 75, of Council Grove passed away September 17, 2024, at Morris County Hospital.
Linda was born to James Lechliter and Jane Lechliter on May 1, 1949, in Cumberland, Maryland. Linda treasured her High School days. Her year books and class ring were some of her most prized possessions. She graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1967, and soon after met the love of her life, Richard. November 8,1967 she Married Richard Jones James. They spent years moving around from Maryland and Florida before calling Kansas their home. Together they welcomed four children
Linda had a love for collecting elephants and anything Betty Boop. Her oldest Granddaughter always called her Grandma Boop. She loved music and had quite the collection of 45 records. She loved Elvis, and the Oakridge Boys. If it was 5pm on a weekday we knew to wait until Jeopardy was over. Linda loved cheering for her favorite basketball team the Kansas Jayhawks. She also loved animals and loved movies with a strong canine presence. Some other of her favorite movies that were on repeat were "Rudy", "Remember The Titans " and " I can only Imagine"
Most importantly she loved being a Wife and Mother. She was a homemaker, and her kids were her #1. She never missed a game or school event. She was also a safe haven for anyone who needed it. Linda had 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great- Grandsons who she absolutely adored.
Linda will be missed by many but know she is at peace and with her love again.
She is survived by her mother, Jane Lechliter of Maryland; brothers James Lechliter (Cindy) of West Virginia, John Lechliter (Donna) of West Virginia, Brian Mellot (Kim) of Maryland; sister Vicki Leister of Maryland; sons Richard James (Jim) of Gas, KS, Mark James (Leah) of Clarendon, TX, daughters Jennifer Sommer (Adam) of Council Grove, KS, Kimberly James-Stewart (Darnel) of Junction City, KS; grandchildren Bailey Davis (Jake), Hunter James, Caden James, Cooper Sommer, Hannah James, and Carter Sommer; and great-grandchildren Hudson Davis and Jackson Davis.
Linda is proceeded in death by her Father James Lechliter, Mother in Law Frieda James , Father in law Henry James and her Husband of 51 years Richard James.
There will be a private burial at a later date.
