He raised his family in Topeka, while working for 39 years at KPL/Westar Electric as the Director of Mapping. He retired and they moved to the Lake of the Ozarks in Camdenton, Missouri. They enjoyed 16 years on the lake before moving back to Topeka. Mick and Dolores got to travel around the USA in their RV and especially loved their time in Alaska.

Mickey absolutely loved to go to auctions and collect all types of interesting things and share them with family and friends.

Not only was Daddy Mickey Mouse the "best husband" and "Daddy" in the world to his family…He was a "good man with a huge heart that would help anyone, anytime."
