Leonard B. Mitchell

Leonard B. Mitchell, 86 passed away November 8th, 2022, in Overbrook Kansas at the Brookside Retirement Home.

Mr. Mitchell was born July 27, 1936, in Lawrence, Kansas at their home to Carl Leroy Mitchell and Leta Mae (Wilcox) Mitchell.

His family moved to California around 1948. Leonard graduated from Manteca High School in 1954.

Mr. Mitchell had many jobs during his lifetime, including working for his dad building houses in and around Lathrop California, The Stockyards, W.P. Railroad, Lathrop Post Office and as a Security Guard. His main love was ranching and working with horses. Leonard enjoyed horseback riding, camping, fishing and playing cards with family. Mr. Mitchell moved back to Kansas in 1979 to ranch and farm.

Leonard married his high school sweetheart, Cherie May Anderson on November 7th, 1955. She survives. Other survivors include sons Michael (wife Betty) of Lecompton KS, David of Lawrence KS; daughter Rhonda Johnston (husband Robert) of Oakdale, CA; grandchildren Travis Mitchell (wife Summer) of AZ, Trevor Mitchell of MO, Melissa Weisgerber, (husband Paul), Lance Mitchell (wife Ellie), Gavin Mitchell (wife Ashlyn) of KS, Jessica Stonehocker (husband Anthony) of CA, Jennifer Ruda (husband Frank) of FL, Mikhail Crawford (wife Kimberly) of UT, Shantal Nickel( husband Leo) of KS, Buck Simmons (wife Kristin) of NE, Deedee Burns of CO. and several great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery in Lecompton, KS on Saturday November 19, 2022, at 3pm.
