Lawrence Douglas Tate

January 23, 1954 — June 13, 2023

Lawrence Douglas Tate, affectionately referred to by many as L.T, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2023, in Oskaloosa, Kansas, after a courageous battle with dementia. Born on January 23, 1954, in Lawrence, Kansas, Lawrence was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who touched the lives of many with his spirited nature and love of life.

Lawrence was the beloved son of Alvie and Edna Tate and grew up in Pomona with his siblings, Dick, Keith, Mike, Raymond and Patty.

A proud graduate of Pomona High School in 1972, Lawrence went on to become a skilled pipefitter and a dedicated member of union local #441. His hard work and commitment to his trade earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and friends. Lawrence was always willing to lend a hand and share his expertise with those in need.

One of Lawrence's proudest achievements was the birth of his twin boys, Jeremy and Jonah. He was on cloud nine for months and would stop strangers in the street to make sure they knew he was the father of twin boys.

Lawrence had a passion for life and enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. He loved riding his Harley, spending time with his beloved pets, watching a good western or sharing a beer with a friend. Lawrence's spirited personality and zest for life were infectious, and he brought joy and to all who knew him.

His strong work ethic and dedication to his family and friends left a lasting impact. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, Alvie and Edna, Johnny (stepfather), Jonah (son), Ali (stepdaughter) and Raymond (brother). He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda, his two children Amber and Jeremy, his stepchildren Jessie and Jamie, his siblings, Dick, Keith, Mike and Patty and his 11 grandchildren.
