December 20, 1954 — November 26, 2025

LAWRENCE WILLIAM "LARRY" IRWIN

(affectionately known as Bud by his family)

Lawrence William "Larry" Irwin, of St. Marys, Kansas, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025, at Onaga Health and Rehab in Onaga, Kansas. He was 70.

Born December 20, 1954, in Pratt, Kansas, to Lawrence and Darlene Irwin. Larry grew up in Greensburg, Kansas, attending school there until 1972. He then moved to St. Marys and graduated from St. Marys High School in 1973.

Larry proudly served in the Kansas Army National Guard from 1973 to 1989, working as an EMT. He was employed by Pinkerton's Security in Topeka and later spent 30 dedicated years driving for Yellow Cab in Topeka.

An outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish, Larry was also an avid reader. He remained a kid at heart and found his greatest joy playing with his nieces and nephews, whom he cherished deeply.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Darlene Irwin.

Larry is survived by his sisters;

Linda Rodenbaugh of Greenville, Texas

Lila Diehl (Eric Hayes) of Freeport, Texas

Laurie Franks (Danny) of Emmett, Kansas

Also surviving are his nieces and nephews:

Nichole Louks (Jamie), Misty Bell (Mark), Ryan Diehl (Kasie Thompson), and Jeffrey Caraway (Samantha Johnson): great-nieces and great-nephew Madison, Laci and Preston Louks and great niece Zoey Johnson: and a great-great niece or nephew expected soon.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Onaga Health and Rehab in appreciation for the exceptional care they provided Larry over the last 3 ½ years, or to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (lbda.org) for research.

Larry – our beloved Bud – will be deeply missed by his family and all who were blessed to know his warm heart and playful spirit.
