Laurie Ann McKenzie, a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in Topeka, KS, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 9, 1965, in Fort Atkinson, WI, Laurie was a beacon of light and laughter to those who knew her. Her infectious smile and kind heart will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to share in her life.

Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, James Truman Anderson and Cleda Margaret Keller-Anderson, her husband, Rickey Lee McKenzie, her sisters Adair Anderson and Eva Anderson, and her brothers Walter Anderson and Richard Anderson. She is survived by her brother Ken Monroe and her children Gabe Adam Kennedy, Star Marie McKenzie, Robert Lawrence McKenzie, Rickey William McKenzie, and Thomas Lee McKenzie. Laurie's legacy will continue to live on through her 14 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends and family who will cherish her memory.

Throughout her life, Laurie was a dedicated and hardworking woman who took pride in her various roles at a steel factory, as a welder, a dietary aide, and a nurse's aide. Her strong work ethic and commitment to helping others was admired by her colleagues and family alike. Laurie's involvement in her community and associations will be missed, but her impact on those around her will not be forgotten.

In her free time, Laurie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, having barbecues, watching movies, and cooking shows. Her love for cooking and sharing meals with those she loved was a testament to her nurturing and caring nature.
