Lauren E. Myers

December 27, 1952 — March 14, 2025

Lauren E. Myers, a beacon of love and kindness, passed away on March 14, 2025, after a brave battle with metastatic cancer. Born on December 27, 1952, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, Lauren's life journey came to a peaceful end in Topeka, Kansas, surrounded by her loved ones.

Lauren's journey began as a daughter to Harold and Edna Smith, who preceded her in death, along with her beloved brother, Steve Smith, and treasured in-laws, Robert "Bob" and Frieda Myers. She was also predeceased by her very dear Cody Campbell, who is undoubtedly dancing in the clouds with her now.

She is survived by her husband, Harry Myers, and their two daughters Kally Oyler (Jason) and Jolie Myers. Gramma will be deeply missed by her four grandchildren Dawson, Wyat, AnnElise, and Emmy. She always had a sweet treat, a hug, and a mooch ready for them. Other survivors include her sister-in-law, Marla Myers of Ozawkie, KS, and sister-in-law Irene Smith, along with her nephew Shane Smith (Kathy) of Katy, TX, and their children Drew, Gabby, and EK, whom she adored.

Lauren's early years in Fairbury, Nebraska were filled with the simple joys of small-town life, which shaped her into a compassionate and optimistic individual. She carried these traits with her throughout her life, touching the hearts of everyone she met. Lauren's unwavering positivity and her radiant smile were often the sources of light for many during their own times of darkness.

Professionally, Lauren dedicated many years of service to The United States Postal Service, where she performed her duties with diligence and care. Her colleagues remember her as someone who brought joy and kindness to the workplace, making the days brighter for everyone around her.

An avid gardener, Lauren found solace and joy in the beauty of nature. She was a certified Master Gardener, but found the most joy in her own gardens. Her gardens are a testament to her patience and nurturing spirit, with each bloom reflecting the care she gave it. Her love for soaking up the sun was matched only by her enthusiasm for her grandchildren's activities, where she was their most ardent supporter. She was also a tried and true Nebraska Cornhusker. She would patiently watch and wait for the red balloon release. Go Big Red! Lauren also loved baking, musical theater, live musical performances, and reading. She enjoyed playing the piano and had a beautiful voice she would never share with much of a crowd.

Lauren's life was characterized by her loving nature, her unwavering kindness, and her relentless optimism. Even in her final days, she faced each challenge with grace and a smile, demonstrating the same strength and courage that marked her entire life. Her legacy is one of warmth and light, a legacy that will continue to inspire all who knew her.

As we bid farewell, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that will forever enrich the tapestry of our world. Her spirit will continue to guide us, reminding us to face each day with love and optimism, just as she did.

Lauren did not want a funeral service, but was agreeable to allow her family to have a celebration of her life with all who loved her. Details will be shared at a later time.
