Larita Joyce Lane

LaRita Joyce (Lewis) Lane, Topeka, passed away peacefully September 24, 2019, surrounded by family.

She was born December 31, 1932 in Topeka, daughter of Glenn and Essie (Clinkenbeard) Lewis.

Rita married Sergeant Talmadge L. Evans, USAF April 16, 1949 in Topeka. He preceded her in death March 24, 1951. Rita married Delbert Lane July 3, 1952 in Topeka. He preceded her in death April 12, 2015.

Rita began her career as a Property Manager at EastboroApartments in Topeka in the early 1970's. She managed several apartment communities before she began her employment with Heritage Management in 1979 where she continued until her retirement in 2000. Rita managed Luther Place/Martin Creek Place Apartments for 17 years prior to her retirement. She really enjoyed her time there working for Rick Plush, whom she thought of as a son.

Preceding her in death were two brothers, Darrel Lewis and Wayne Lewis.

Rita is survived by 3 sons, 4 grandsons, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.

Evans, Scranton; Danny (Terri) Lane, Alma; Michael (Tammy) Lane, Scranton; Grandsons; Troy (Brandy) Lane, Scranton; Patrick Lane (Kylie Boring), Alma; Thad Martin, Scranton; Aron (Tabitha) Lane, Omaha, NE; Great grandchildren; Spencer Lane, Geneva Lane, Patrick Lane, Jr, Destanie Martin (Cameron Bedford), Briaunna Martin, Trae Martin, Shalee Geren (Douglas Peet), Kaden Geren, Alexis (Bradley) Halmon, Alison Lane, Alivia Lane; Great, Great grandchildren; Aubrielle (Ellie) Bedford, Kanen Peet and Aniyah Peet (coming soon).

Graveside service for Delbert and Rita Lane, Friday, October 11, 2019 @ 11:00 AM at Topeka Cemetery.
