Ben retired from Hallmark Cards after 46 years of service; he was a Triple Foil Stamp Press Operator. He was called back to Hallmarks several times to help out after his retirement, and he also went to the Lawrence Plant to work. Ben started work with Hallmarks on July 6, 1967 on his birthday. Ben said it was the best birthday gift a person could have gotten, so he quit the donut shop the same day he was hired. Miss Atwood called him to come to work and that's when he started his career at Hallmarks.
Ben enjoyed basketball, slow pitch softball and bowling, where he earned his 300 ring in 1989, horseshoes, camping and swimming. He was an avid K-State fan and he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
To honor Ben's request, cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled. Private interment and a Celebration of Life will be scheduled for a later date.
Ben was my best friend and husband, the love of my life and will be missed dearly, but never forgotten. Wife Maurine and Grandson Matthew F. Mayer, and all his family members.
