Ken passed away Wednesday Aug. 8th 2018 after losing his battle with pulmonary fibrosis, which was diagnosed in November 2017. He was the eldest son born to Kenneth V. Johnson Sr. & Lorene Johnson on May 29th, 1952. Survivors include his wife, Karen- Topeka and three sons: Brian (Kimberly)- Topeka, Jeffrey (Christina)- Derby,KS, and Jerrod- Topeka. Also surviving are three granddaughters: Zoe Swan (Chris)- Topeka, Niomi Johnson- Topeka, and Amareauna Johnson- Derby. Kenny was a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandfather. He always had a smile on his face, and made the people that came into his life a priority. He was always willing to help anyone who needed him. He had many hobbies including BBQ competitions , as well as cooking for anyone who wanted his food, anytime they asked him to. His most recent interests were flying racing drones and 3D printing. He loved music of all kinds, and had been a guitarist in a local band called The Majestics, in his teen years. He liked to keep himself busy, and was always working on something. He worked for 25 years as a security officer with USD 501, first at Topeka West High School, and later at Topeka High School. He loved his job, as well as all of his co-workers, and he really enjoyed being around all of the kids at the schools that he helped to keep safe. He will be missed by his family and community. He loved, and was loved, by many. A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 17th at Lake Shawnee shelter house #6 from 6-10 PM. Thanks to everyone who has offered us condolences.
