Kenneth "Dale" Area, 84, of Westmoreland passed away November 30, 2015 at his home.
Dale was born on November 7, 1931 to Arch and Doris (Anderson) Area. The family lived in the Sales community before moving to Olsburg in 1941 where Dale graduated from high school.
On December 26, 1954 he married Naomi White and together they happily shared nearly 61 years. The young couple lived in rural Olsburg and moved to Westmoreland in 1962 while raising two daughters. Dale was self-employed in the trucking business for many years and eventually worked for Shilling Construction.
In his retirement, Dale enjoyed traveling with Naomi all over the United States and also spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was an avid collector of antique farm tools and an active member of the Cast Iron Seat Collectors Association and the Missouri Valley Wrench Club. He and Naomi traveled and displayed at many antique shows in the Midwest.
Survivors include his wife Naomi of the home; daughter Roxie Zoeller and her husband Jim of Westmoreland; daughter Ronda Doperalski and her husband Matt of Boise, Idaho; five grandchildren, Nicole (Ron) Duggan, Lisa (Ryan) DeWeese, Emily Zoeller, Quentin Doperalski and Logan (Justin) Weis, plus six great grandchildren Mariah, Colton, Brooklyn, Austin, Lexi and Chase.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister in 1929 and his brother Lawrence in 1937.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. in the Sunflower Room, 612 East Campbell Street, Westmoreland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Homecare & Hospice, 3801 Vanesta Dr, Manhattan, KS 66503.
