Kathy Elane Stevens, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2024, in her hometown of Topeka, KS, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on January 26, 1949, Kathy's life was a testament to her loving nature and her unwavering strength.
Kathy was a graduate of Topeka High School, class of 1968.
Kathy's love for life was as immense as the great outdoors she so adored. She found joy in the companionship of her beloved German Shepherds, the thrill of horseback riding, and the serenity of fishing. Above all, her favorite pastime was spending quality time with her friends and family, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Independent and stubborn are but two words that encapsulate the essence of Kathy. Her resilience in the face of adversity and her capacity for love and kindness never waned. She inspired those around her with her ability to face challenges head-on while maintaining her characteristic warmth and compassion.
Surviving Kathy are her loving daughter, Windy (Wes) Young of Pleasant Hill, MO; her adored grandchildren, Trace Young of Dallas, TX, and Tori Young of Pleasant Hill, MO. her beloved German Shepherd, Luke of the home, and her devoted sisters, Shirley (Larry) Boyd of Avon Park, Florida, and Judy (Carl) Hubener of Topeka, KS; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Kathy's legacy of love and strength will continue to live on through them.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Etta Hockensmith, and her sisters, Betty Jones and Willa Hawley. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with them once more.
Kathy Elane Stevens will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her light will continue to shine in the hearts of those she touched with her courage and love. As we say farewell, we celebrate the life of a woman who was truly one of a kind, and whose spirit will continue to guide us in the days to come.
There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Gayle's 600 NW Paramore St., Topeka, KS 66608 from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
