Kathryn (Kate) Roark, 93, Manhattan, passed away September 15, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS.

Kate was born May 30, 1921, in Alma, KS, the daughter of Frank and Elna Marie (Hollister) Kramer. She graduated from Manhattan High School in 1939, attended KSU and Palmer's Secretarial School in Manhattan.

She worked for the Department of Agriculture in Washington, DC and Chicago, IL during World War II. She worked and retired from Kansas Farm Bureau Insurance Company.

She married Allan Roark in Manhattan on March 8, 1946. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2002.

She was a volunteer at Memorial Hospital, Brownie Scout Leader, and Charter Member of Manhattan Bowling Association. She was a softball pitcher on a Manhattan ladies league and also received swimming and diving acknowledgements.

She was proceeded in death by her mother and father, brothers, William, Roger, Frank, Richard and Dale Kramer. Survivors include daughters, Patty Roark, Janet (Chuck) Miller, Berryton, Granddaughter, Gretchen Roark, Great Granddaughter, Ava Kathryn Roark, Brother Edward (Wilma) Kramer, Carbondale, Sister-N-Law Carlene Kramer, Kansas City, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.

Kate was loving, kind and compassionate who loved animals and knew just what to say to make a person feel special.

Kate was cremated and a private family service is planned. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Hospice House www.homecareandhospice.org/.
