Karen Lou Eakins Swiercinsky

February 17, 1941 — June 17, 2014

Karen Lou Eakins Swiercinsky, 73, was born in Topeka, KS on February 17, 1941, the daughter of Samuel Eakins and Doris Lorene Woody. Karen was raised by her grandparents, Albert and Ella Woody, on a farm north of Dover, KS. She passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014.

On March 12, 1960, Karen and Kenneth Swiercinsky were united in marriage at the home of Reverend Terry and Patsy Hodges. From this union they had a son, Kevin, and a daughter, Kendrah. She was also blessed with a granddaughter, Whitney, a grandson, Erik, a great-granddaughter, Corah, and a great-grandson, Liam. Karen had two half sisters, Jeanette Eakins and Winona Martin, and a half brother, Gerald Martin.

Karen graduated as Salutatorian in 1959 from Dover High School. She attended and graduated from Kaw Area Vo-Tech School in Floral Design. She owned and operated Kountry Klassics, a floral shop, from 1980-1993.

Karen was a lifelong member of the Dover Federated Church. She belonged to the Dover EHU for many years and was an active member of the USBC and the Winnerettes League of Southwest Bowl. She was also an avid Kansas State University sports fan.

Karen knew the cattle business as well as any herdsman. If she thought it, she said it. If she said it, you could take it to the bank. She was a wonderful life partner, wife, and mother. No one could be blessed with more.

Karen's final request was to be cremated. There will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers and memorial gifts, Karen requested that family and friends plant flowers or take a friend to lunch.

The family appreciates all the kindness, thoughts, and prayers given in support during this time of great loss.
