Judith "Judy" Kay Fields, 73, passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Midland Care Hospice in Topeka, KS. She was born on November 13, 1949, in Hoisington, KS to Floyd W. and Gertie G. (Stidham) Howser. Judy grew up in Hoisington and graduated from Hoisington High School in 1967. She married John Jenkins on August 4, 1968. She then married Jim Fields on October 3, 1983, in Anthony, KS. He passed away on May 27, 2021.
Judy always loved sports, cheering on her children and grandchildren while they played sports during their school years. She supported her sons and grandsons playing football, baseball and wrestling and her daughter, granddaughters, and nieces playing softball. She followed Chaparral High School (Anthony, KS) and Wellington High School (Wellington, KS) sports and was a huge fan of K-State football where her grandson, Jacob Jenkins, played for a few seasons. She was also an avid fisherwoman. Judy was of the Baptist faith.
Judy worked several jobs during her lifetime, including nurse aide at Hoisington Lutheran Hospital. She was hired by Mobil Oil in 1979 as an oil field pumper and was the first female hired in this position by Mobil in the Mid-Continent region. She then worked as an independent pumper for several years prior to retirement. Judy had lived the past 5 years in Topeka, coming from North Pole, Alaska where she resided for 8 years. She lived in Anthony, KS for many years prior to her move to Alaska.
Judy is survived by her son, Mike Jenkins, Topeka, KS; sister Tammy McGinnis (Les Rogers) of Topeka, KS; brother Roger Howser (Robin) of Broken Arrow, OK; two step-children, Jim (Shelly) Fields of Andover, KS and Jill Fields of Salina, KS; daughter-in-law Amy Jenkins of Wellington, KS; 10 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and another one on the way; plus many beloved nephews and nieces whom Judy was a "Grandma" to all of them.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jim Fields; sons Jimmy (Clyde) Jenkins and Jeff Jenkins; daughter Jody Ramos; brothers Jim Howser and Larry Howser; and sister Glenda Hensley.
