Judith Kay Crider-Fogel

May 16, 1943 — December 2, 2023

Judith Kay (Gaffney) Crider-Fogel, Carbondale, passed away peacefully on December 2, 2023, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

She was born on May 16, 1943, in Emporia, KS, the daughter of Edward K. Gaffney and Vesper A. (Grimmett) Gaffney McKeever. Judy graduated from Topeka High School in 1961, and later completed cosmetology school. She was married to Gary F. Crider, and they had two sons, Scott Edward and Kevin Frederick.

Judy worked at Crestview Elementary School, Capper and French Junior High Schools and Topeka West High School. She and her lifelong friend, Diane Etzel, were well known as the "Lunch Ladies". After her sons finished school, Judy focused on her career as a beautician, where she met and befriended many of her longtime clients.

In 1995, she met Carl Fogel and they were married on September 28, 1996. They enjoyed traveling in their classic vehicles, visiting friends throughout the United States and especially loved their frequent trips to Eureka Springs, AR. Judy adored her grandsons and she and Carl rarely missed any of their many activities.

Survivors include her husband Carl, Carbondale; sons Scott (Tamara) Crider and Kevin (Nancee) Crider, all of Topeka; grandchildren MacKenzie Scott Crider, Lawrence, KS, Nicholas Scott Crider, Kansas City, MO, and Bradley Stuart Crider, Pittsburg, KS; sister Jan Twemlow, Topeka. Also surviving are several nephews and their families, as well as many dear friends that she considered her family. Judy was preceded in death by her parents and her former husband Gary.

The family extends their gratitude for the wonderful care Judy received from The House at Midland Care during the last several days of her life.

A Celebration of Life is planned for a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to Midland Care Hospice House, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
