Judith Kirk Butler

Judith Kirk Butler, 63, of 5248 SW 69thStreet, Auburn, Kansas passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Services will be at 9:00 AM Tuesday, Aug. 12, at Mater Dei Assumption Church at 8thand Jackson in Topeka, Kansas at9 AM, with a rosary in her honor immediately prior. A visitation hour will be held following services in the church at10:15 AM.

Jude attended the Academy of the Visitation in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated from Loras College in Dubuque where she met her devoted husband of 41 years, Michael Keith Butler. They were united in marriage onMay 25,1973 in Dubuque. Together they continued to Iowa State in Ames. They moved to Topeka, Kansas where she became the loving mother of Faith Butler, M.D., of Seattle, Washington and Eleanor Butler, of Topeka, Kansas. She worked for the state of Kansas for 29 years. The Butlers were members of Assumption Parish for 25 years.

She will be remembered as a beloved wife and mother, baker, and gardener; as a pamperer of cats, dogs, and goats; and an excellent cook who would never let you leave the table hungry. She is also survived by her siblings Sue (Cors) Korteweg, of LeGarde, France, Frank (Maria) Kirk, M.D., of Binghamton, New York, Mary (Craig) Milroy, of Palo Alto, California, Patrick Kirk, of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Karen (Dennis) Waisath, of Keokuk, Iowa, Joe (Ann) Kirk, of Dubuque, Iowa, Eleanor (Cleve) Yocum, ofMoscow, Idaho, and Allyn (Bart) Elkin, of Boca Raton, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Esther Kirk and her uncle, Fr. Joseph Kirk.
