Joseph Eugene Davis, Jr.
Surrounded by his loving family, Joe passed on September 17, 2023, at Midland Care Hospice House.
Joseph Eugene Davis, Jr. was born on August 13, 1953, in Lawrence, KS. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Karen, of Topeka, KS; son Bryce Kenton Davis and his wife Abby, of Mission Hills, KS; daughter Brynn Kara Davis, of Lawrence, KS; son Branton Kyle Davis, of Austin, TX; granddaughter Holly Shea Davis; and grandson Ryder Kenton Davis. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph Eugene Davis and Ruth Mabel Davis.
He earned his B.S. in Geology from The University of Kansas in 1975 and had been a Jayhawk ever since! He put himself through college on hard work and determination and taught all three of his children these principles through and through. He was a wealth of knowledge and continued learning every day.
Joe was and incredibly talented man. Everything he touched turned to gold; from his woodworking to fixing something around the house. The man could fix anything, build anything, repurpose anything, or create anything. He was also the most hard-working man you would ever meet. He worked from sunup to sunset. Never stopping. There was always something to be done.
His greatest passions were woodworking (especially woodturning), music, his lawn, sports – go KU!, his grandchildren, and his lovely bride. He spent countless hours in his shop – one of his favorite places to be – working on his creations and listening to his music. He helped many woodturners get their start, teaching them the craft. He was held in high regard by his neighbors and was always lending a helping hand. And he could always recall a joke – for every single occasion.
Joe was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather. He is greatly missed.
Friends of Joe are invited to join the family at a Celebration of Life to be held in honor of Joe on November 5, 2023, between 1-5 pm at The Blue Moose, 3030 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka KS, 66614.
