Johnnie Vernon Cleaver

Johnnie Vernon Cleaver, 49, of Topeka, KS, passed away September 5, 2017, at Stormont Vail Hospital after a short illness.

Johnnie was born March 9, 1968 in San Jose, California to John V. and Vickey Yost Cleaver.

He attended Carbondale Elementary and Santa Fe Trail High School and finished his education graduating from Seaman High School.

He started his military career in 1987 when he joined the Army as a skilled marksman actively for 2 years. He completed his Army career by serving 8 years as a Reserve in Topeka, KS.

Johnnie worked as a tire salesman for Gregg Tire before going on to open his own business in the Auto Glass and Tire Industry.

He enjoyed being with his family and friends. He never missed a family function. He loved karaoke. He was a stand-up comedian who never got paid. In later years, Johnnie and his younger son Alex, succeeded in a motocross life traveling across the country competing.

In the early 90's he married Andrea Howe. Two sons were born to this union Jory and Alex. Johnnie was a very proud dad and loved his sons dearly.

At the time of his passing he is survived by his wife Shar Collins Cleaver, his mother Vickey Longstaff, two brothers big John Cleaver of Springfield, MO and Rodney Cleaver of Topeka, KS. Two sons Jory and Alex Cleaver of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his father John V. Cleaver of Topeka and a brother Jordan M. Cleaver West Virginia.

Celebration of life will be held September 16, 2017 at 4101 SE West Edge Road, Topeka, starting at 12:00pm. Everyone knows JC was "the life of the party" and loved to have a good time. Please come help us celebrate and honor the life of JVC.
