John David Hudson, known affectionately as John to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2024, at the age of 79 in Topeka, Kansas. Born on November 22, 1944, in Pittsburg, Kansas, John lived a life marked by laughter, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to his loved ones.

John's legacy is carried on by his devoted wife, Janet Hudson, his loving children, John Hudson, Heather Hudson Gentry (Mark Gentry), Michael Matweyew (Stephani Matweyew) and stepson Jesse Lowe (Angela Lowe), and his adored grandchildren, Santos Arellano II, Hudson Gentry, Madison Gentry, Carson Gentry, Caitlyn Roberts, Cara Lowe, and Coby Lowe. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he took immense pride in each of their achievements and milestones.

After graduating from Capitol City Barber College, John spent many years as a skilled barber, a profession that allowed him to connect with people from all walks of life. His barber chair was more than just a place for a haircut; it was a hub of community and friendship, where John's humor and warmth made every client feel like family. Additionally, John proudly served his country as a veteran of the Army, carrying with him the values of service and sacrifice throughout his life.

A man of diverse interests, John found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fan of Western movies, a genre that captured his imagination and spirit of adventure. Music was a constant companion, providing a soundtrack to his life's moments, both big and small. John was also a master at the game of dominos, a pastime through which he forged many lasting memories with his friends and family and donned himself the nickname "Domino Champ". Above all, John cherished the time spent with his family and friends, creating memories that would be treasured forever.

Those who knew John would describe him as funny, spirited, and wise. His laughter was infectious, his energy boundless, and his advice sought after by many. He had a knack for lifting spirits and could always be counted on to deliver a clever quip or an insightful observation.John believed in the goodness of people and the strength of community. As Helen Keller once said, "Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." John embodied this sentiment, by always bringing people together to share in the simple joys of life.

The memorial service for John will take place at Topeka First Church of the Nazarene (1001 SW Buchanan St, Topeka, KS 66604) on April 11th, 2024, starting at 11:00 am. Following the service, there will be a meal provided, offering an opportunity for further gathering with John's family and friends.
