John Burton Aubert, known to all as John, passed away on June 29, 2023, at his home in Topeka, Kansas, after a brave battle with cancer. John was born in Emporia, Kansas, on February 16, 1962, and later moved to Topeka, KS where he lived a life full of stubbornness and love surrounded by family and friends.
John was a wonderful husband, father, and friend who was loved by many for his 'tell it like it is' and 'no punches pulled' manner. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Verena Aubert, his step-children; Dustin Aubert, Michael Fearnow, Shauna Wake, and his son, Scott Aubert. He was also a beloved step-son to Dino Harrell, a cherished son to Mary Harrell, and a dear brother to Vickie Hester, Kathy Baldwin, and Donna Aubert. John was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and happiness. His family was his pride, and he was their rock. His love, wisdom, and strength will live on in each of them.
John was a man of many talents. He was the proverbial jack of all trades and master of none. He had a knack for working with his hands and was always ready to lend a hand to his family. He enjoyed the open road and the freedom of riding his motorcycle. Everyone who knew him knew that he'd rather be on a Harley than doing anything else. He also made a unique hobby of collecting debts, a testament to his belief in fairness and justice.
In the face of loss, we find comfort in remembering John's life, a life well-lived. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate the love he shared, the lessons he shared, and the lives he touched. His memory will forever be a blessing to all who knew him. Rest in peace, John Burton Aubert. You will be dearly missed.
