Joe Marion Hume died August 6, 2015 at the age of 85. Joe was born September 27, 1929 in Ottawa, Kansas to Sam and Maude (DeVilbis) Hume. He attended public schools in Ottawa and Bethany College in Lindsborg, Kansas. He was in the US Army for 4 years.

He owned and operated Hume Music, Inc., for more than 50 years. As a merchant, his life was devoted to helping others through music, making it possible for many children to enjoy the benefits of music. He was in many organizations both locally and internationally supporting and promoting music.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mildred. Survivors include his wife, Mary, a sister, Dorothy Detweiler, of Ottawa, Kansas, children: Astrid (Richard) Glessing of Howard Lake, MN, Rita Renate Herberger of Scottsdale, AZ, Rod (Karen) Light of Topeka, Jeff Light of Kansas City KS., Fred (Marian) Light of Kansas City, Mo, David (Amy) Bitter of Topeka and Renea (Davidson) Willie of Lawrence KS and 9 grandchildren.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Topeka, KS

He was cremated and the Memorial Service will be at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 10:30 AM with visitation at 9 AM at the church. Inurnment will be in Mission Center Cemetery, at 29th and Urish, Topeka.
