Jess Henry Mundy

December 11, 1938 — November 2, 2018

Jess Henry Mundy, or as most knew him Bud, was born December 11, 1938 in Burlingame, Kansas. He was married December 11, 1959 to Carol Darlene Clark in Burlingame, Kansas. On October 30, 2018, he passed away suddenly, holding the hand of the same woman he had held for 60 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Eva and Jesse Mundy of Burlingame, Kansas; his siblings Dale Mundy, Joyce Diecker, and Lillian Clapp; and great grandchild Ariya Robinson.

He attended school in Burlingame until he left school and began working to help support his seven siblings. He was a hard worker, doing hard work. He spent many years working for Union Pacific Railroad, and many years roofing where he retired in December 2000 from Vincents Roofing in Topeka.

If you knew Bud, you still imagine him in his flannel shirt with overalls and a great big smile. That smile and laugh will be missed so much by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was so proud of his family, all of his favorite memories were spent beside the legacy he leaves behind.

He leaves behind his wife Carol Mundy of Topeka; his siblings Judy (Rod) Billings of Stillwater, Kathy (Steve) Mizer of Chesapeake Bay, Evelyn Williams of Osage City; his children Debbie (Terry) Miles of Scranton, John (Cindy) Mundy of Scranton, George (Staci) Mundy of Topeka; his grandchildren Christi Miles, Derek (Amy) Miles, Jessica (CJ) Wilson, Isreal (Stephanie) Mundy, Lorenzo Mundy, Ashley (Kyle) Brown, Jodi (Zach) Short, Tyler Mundy; and great grandchildren Alyssa, Aiden, CJ, Hunter, Grayson, Leanna, Zayla, Braedyn, Brynlee, Brycen; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bud enjoyed his family and friends more than anything, he loved hunting and fishing, he enjoyed woodworking, he was always up for a card game, and spent many years playing bingo beside his beloved wife.

He has to be one of the only people that ever killed a deer with a rock, if he was hunting he would get the deer with the oldest bow in the group, he didn't need a fancy new bow. Out on the boat, you knew you'd better get ready to duck because if he got a bite he was going to rip that pole back so fast it would knock you right out of the boat. If he got mad, you could find him walking home. And you wouldn't beat him in pitch, he would out bid you without ever looking at his cards. At bingo, you knew never to crinkle the popcorn bag. But most important if you were up for being ornery you could always count on him. He will be missed dearly.
