Jerry Lee Rice

November 15, 1946 — November 6, 2022

Jerry really enjoyed the outdoors. She loved to fish and camp on lakes and rivers. She enjoyed sewing, baking, crocheting, animals, and her favorite color was pink. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially when they were very young. She loved holding and caring for babies.

Jerry struggled with health issues from childhood and was nearly legally blind without glasses. In December of 2009 she was diagnosed with lung cancer which took a heavy toll on her health. She recovered but wasn't physically able to do a lot of the things she loved doing previously. While she struggled with other physical ailments, she loved to make gifts for people and there are many loved ones with cherished blankets she made for them.

Jerry was preceded in death by her parents Don and Edna Jenkins, brother Donald Jenkins, brother-in-law David Bates and son Lane Rice.

She is survived by her husband David Schuhs of Olpe, Kansas and first husband Larry Rice of Denton, TX. Children: daughter, Sandra Fields (Peter) of Palmetto FL, daughter, Robin Jones (Ken) of Howe TX. Siblings: Doris Jenkins (SIL) of Ogallala NE, Virginia Bates of Blue Rapids KS, Patricia Peterson of Battle Lake MN, Delma Baker (Rodger) of Hansen Idaho, Charlotte Nutter (Gary) of Littleton CO, and Lois Moore (Jarrel) of Jerome Idaho. Grandchildren: Harrison, Hayden, and Acacia Fields; Joshua (Ryan), Kristopher, Katelynn, and Dylan Jones; and Dakota Rice. Great grandchildren, extended family, and friends.

She will be dearly missed, but there is great comfort in knowing that she is not suffering anymore.  A celebration of life service will be held at a later date to celebrate and honor her.
