Jerry S. Lackey, 86, of Seneca, KS, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 after succumbing to liver cancer. He was born on February 27, 1930 to William and Laurina Duethman Lackey. Jerry served in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1956. After serving his country he relocated to Lincoln, NE. He married the love of his life Joan I. Sunneberg on June 6, 1955 and had 5 children together. He worked at Latch Brothers in Lincoln as the manager of the Print Shop for 37 years.
He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Jerry was a frequent customer to his favorite dining establishment: McDonald's. He was an avid jokester, loved to fish, play cards, and "tinker" in his garage.
He is proceeded in death by his wife, Joan; Parents; brother, Hubert W. Lackey, sisters, Remiga Lierz, and Alice Kongs.
He is survived by his brother, Gene Lackey and sister Monica Stallbaumer. His children, Jon Lackey of Ormond Beach, FL, Jantina Gomez of Seward, NE, Julie Hoffman of Sulphur, OK, and Jeanine Lackey of Bellevue, NE, Joni Hicks of Omaha, NE, Grandchildren,
Joan Arnold, Emma Hoffman, Drew Hicks, Shannon Garnsey, Tanner Lackey, and great grandchildren, Xander and Hannah Garnsey and Allory Arnold.
The Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, June 21st at 10:00 am at St. Peter and Paul Church in Seneca, KS. A flag line will be provided by the American Legion Riders Post #21.
Join the family at his home/garage for a "Storytelling" food and drink session in honor of Jerry following the Mass.
A private burial will be in Lincoln, NE, at a later date.
