Jerry D. Cellar

April 26, 1951 — November 14, 2022

Jerry D. Cellar, 71, of Osage City, KS left this world Monday, November 14, 2022. He entered this world on April 26, 1951, to loving parents, Lawrence W. and Ina Mae (Dugger) Cellar and an older brother, Larry D. Cellar. A few years later the family welcomed a little sister, Jeanne.

In his younger years enjoyed playing superman with his siblings, jumping off the front porch to fly away or playing cowboys and cowgirls decked out with guns, holsters and cowboy hats.

While attending high school Jerry worked at a gas station pumping .25 cent a gallon gas. In 1969 he graduated from Osage City High School. Shortly after graduating he joined the US Navy serving from 1969 until 1972. He was very proud that the ship he served on was the one that brought the last soldiers home from Vietnam. He went to work as a custodian at the Osage City High School where he was employed for over 40 years.  Jerry prouldly followed in his gradfathers, Fred Cellar's, footsteps as he also was a custodian at Osage City High School for many years. Over the years Jerry never called the pupils students, they were his kids. He loved working at the school and loved the faculity and children.

If you lived in Osage City or was just driving through you stood the chance of seeing Jerry out for a walk. He strolled the streets several times a day speaking and waving at folks. He will be truly missed by all.

Jerry married Jacqueline Sue Payne, or Susie as he called her. They enjoyed antiquing and going to the casinos. She preceded him in death. He is survived by his younger sister, Jeanne Marie Wright along with several nieces and nephews.
