Jerry L Calvert, 62, of Topeka, KS, passed away surrounded by his family on April 16, 2025.
He was born January 1, 1963, in Kansas City, KS to Delbert and Juanita (Duncan) Calvert. He graduated from Gardner High School in 1982. Shortly after high school, he moved to Tucson, AZ for a brief time. After returning to Gardner, he worked as a welder for Hamm's construction for several years. More recently, while in Topeka, he worked as a produce manager at Dillon's and then as a cook at a local restaurant.
Jerry was known to his friends and family for his kindness, sense of humor and his ornery streak. He was always playing practical jokes on those around him and enjoyed making people laugh. He wouldn't pass on the chance to take someone fishing. He loved children, and though he never had any of his own, he never hesitated to spoil his nieces, nephew, or any children he was around. He had a presence of kindness and warmth and could bring a smile to any
one's face.
He is survived by and will be dearly missed by his sister, Rebecca Lyon of Columbia, MO, brother Edward Calvert, of Olathe, KS, and close friend, Stephanie Taylor, of Topeka, KS and her sons. He is proceeded in death by his parents along with his brother, David Lynn Calvert.
Burial will take place on Saturday, May 24th at 2pm at the Wellsville Cemetery in Wellsville, KS. A celebration of life will follow immediately after the burial
