Jeri Janis (Mccolpin) Bishop

January 28, 1943 — November 16, 2023

Jeri Janis (McColpin) Bishop, known to her loved ones as Janis, passed away on November 16, 2023, in Topeka, Kansas, due to an unsurvivable brain hemorrhage. Born on January 28, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas, Janis lived a life full of love, selflessness, and kindness.

Janis was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Jerry Bishop. Together, they raised a loving family that included their devoted sons, Jared Bishop, George Sieger and loving daughter, Lisa Munoz. Janis was also a cherished grandmother to Abram Munoz, Eman Malkawi, and Isabela Munoz. She held a special place in her heart for her sons, the late Mike Sieger and Patrick Pacquin. She was predeceased by her grandson, Robert Sieger. Janis fostered a warm, welcoming home, and her children and grandchildren will fondly remember her nurturing nature and unconditional love.

Janis had an affinity for nature that was contagious to those around her. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, like watching the birds, squirrels, and bunnies play and feed in her yard. She took great pride in the plants and trees she had in her yard. Her love for the outdoors was matched only by her love for her family and friends. Janis was the person who always had time for a chat and her home was the gathering place for many memorable family events.

Beyond her love for nature, Janis had a wide array of interests that kept her busy. She loved music and reading, and she enjoyed watching her favorite television shows. Her interests were diverse, but they all had one thing in common: they brought her joy, and she loved sharing that joy with others.

Janis will be remembered as a loving and selfless individual. Her kindness was evident in the way she treated others and the lasting relationships she cultivated. She had a gift for making people feel special and loved, and her positive impact on those around her will not be forgotten.

Janis is survived by her husband, Jerry Bishop; her children, Jared Bishop, Lisa Munoz, and George Sieger; her grandchildren, Abram Munoz, Eman Malkawi, and Isabela Munoz; and her son, David Sieger. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In remembering Janis, we celebrate a life well-lived. A life filled with love, kindness, and selflessness. A life that touched many others and left a lasting legacy. As we mourn her loss, we also celebrate the beautiful person that she was. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
