Jeanette Torrance 79, a beloved mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God, was joyfully welcomed into Heaven on January 25, 2026. She was born on May 26, 1946, in Eureka, Kansas, and grew up in Severy, Kansas, where her roots, faith, and love for community were first formed.

A woman of deep and abiding faith, Jeanette believed in Jesus Christ and lived her life guided by His love. Her family takes great comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of her Savior—healed, whole, and at peace.

Jeanette attended Bethany Nazarene College for one year, where she continued to grow in faith and character. On a blind date that would change her life forever, she met Richard Torrance. The two quickly knew they had found something special and were married soon after, beginning a lifetime of love, partnership, and devotion.

Together they raised three children—Kyndall Coffman, Karrisa Hutsell, and Kyle Torrance—and Jeanette’s greatest joy was being their mother. That joy multiplied when she became a grandmother to eight grandchildren, each of whom held a very special place in her heart.

In her early years, Jeanette lovingly cared for children through babysitting, a reflection of her gentle and nurturing spirit. She later built a long and meaningful career at the Emporia Public Library, where she served her community with dedication and kindness until her retirement.

In her retirement years, Jeanette embraced both service and adventure. She spent cherished time camp hosting at Pomona Lake, helping build and develop the church camp at Salyer Lake in Oklahoma, traveling to Alaska, enjoying several cruises, and living in Gunnison, Colorado to be close to family.

Jeanette had a deep love for knitting and blessed many with her handmade baby blankets and beautiful throws. Each stitch was a quiet expression of her care, warmth, and generosity—gifts that will continue to comfort those who receive them.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Brookside Retirement Community and Phoenix Home Care & Hospice for their loving care, compassion, and kindness during Jeanette’s final days.

She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, and unwavering love for her family. Though her absence is deeply felt, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and in the knowledge that she is now home with Jesus.

A celebration of Jeanette’s life will be held at Mt. Pleasant Church on March 21, 2026 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Salyer Lake in her memory.

If you have a blanket or throw that was made by Jeanette, please bring to her Celebration of Life to show her craftwork and generosity.

“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
