Jean Elizabeth Simmons Rohrig of Lincoln died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. She was born Sept. 30, 1954, in Beloit, Kansas, to Arlyn and Norma (Wehl) Simmons. Jean was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church and attended Beloit schools, graduating in 1972.

Jean completed training at North Central Kansas Vocational Technical School and served in several secretarial positions before discovering her true talent and passion as a florist. In 1984, Jean moved to Lincoln, Kansas, where she established the Buds and Blossoms flower shop. She brought comfort and happiness over the years to numerous people in the community through her beautiful floral arrangements.

Family was very important to Jean, and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed getting together with her large extended family for summer lake weekends and family birthdays and holidays.

Jean was preceded in death by her father, Arlyn Simmons. She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Norma and Dean Thompson of Lincoln; her sons, Adam Simmons (Jenni) of Leawood, Cory Quiles of Salina, and Dylan Rohrig (Kendra) of Lincoln; her daughter, Gina Quiles of Salina; and her grandchildren, Bailey Weis, Caidon and Bradee Quiles, Olivia Donley, and Xander Beeson.

Also left to mourn Jean's passing are her brother, Mike Simmons (Kay) of Lincoln; sister, Judy Lynch (Mike) of Manhattan; stepbrother, Robert Thompson of Lincoln; stepsisters, Mary Beth Anderson (Joel) of Manhattan and Jeanne Douglass (Curtis) of Newton; her companion, Wes Tuttle; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the Lincoln Community Church from 12 to 7 p.m., with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Lincoln Community Church on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 1 p.m. with burial at a later time in Saltville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Lincoln VFW Auxiliary or the Lincoln Area Humane Society.
