Janice Lu Trinklein

June 14, 1934 — November 11, 2022

Janice Lu Trinklein was granted peace after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's disease and joined her loving husband Michael in heaven on November 11, 2022.

A Memorial Service is scheduled Saturday, April 1st, 11:00 am, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church – Northwest, located at Foundation One Bank Building, 4141 N. 156th Street, Omaha, Nebraska.

Janice was born to Martin and Luella (Wilken) Asche on June 14, 1934, in Columbus, Nebraska. Her childhood years involved years in Chicago, St. Louis, Pomona, California, and Oregon, before returning to Columbus for high school.

After graduating from Columbus High School in 1952, Janice attended Lutheran School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri, becoming a Registered Nurse in 1955. Shortly after her graduation from nursing school, on June 12, 1955, she married The Rev. Michael C. Trinklein. Janice committed herself as a newlywed to a life of service with the Lutheran Church, both in the mission field and in more traditional parish service. Within months, she and Michael moved to Chiayi, Taiwan, where Michael served as a missionary for the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod in what was then rural Taiwan. During her six years in Taiwan, Janice gave birth to her four children.

She then moved with her family to parish positions in Bedford, Massachusetts and Wichita, Kansas, where she became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. In 1967, the family returned to the mission field in Hong Kong, then returned to parish positions in Pittsburg, Kansas and Boonville, Missouri. In 1979 she accomplished her life-long goal of achieving a bachelor's degree, graduating from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. In 1984, she and Michael moved to Kirkwood, Missouri. After Michael's death in 1993 and a later marriage to Richard Croner, she moved in 1997 to Nassau Bay, Texas, until moving to a memory facility in Topeka, Kansas in 2011.

Janice committed to improving herself professionally under often difficult circumstances. Her CRNA certification was obtained while maintaining a household with four children between the ages of 6 and 10. In Hong Kong, she balanced family and career by working as the school nurse for Hong Kong International School. Her BA from Stephens College was completed while working full time as a nurse anesthetist. A move to Kirkwood prompted Janice to start a new career in real estate, where she quickly became a realtor, real estate broker, and later a Certified Residential Specialist, where her personality and drive led to success as she achieved the Million Dollar Club.

Retiring to Nassau Bay, Texas, Janice enjoyed the warmer weather, was an active member of the Nassau Bay Garden Club, volunteered at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, and enjoyed being a daily presence in the lives of her two youngest grandchildren. Indeed, Janice's grandchildren and great-grandchildren provided her unmatched love, joy, and excitement. She found great pleasure in each of them as babies, children, and young adults.

Janice is survived by her four children: Gary (Debbie) of Zurich, Switzerland; Jennifer (Kenlon) Johannes of Topeka, Kansas; Andrea (Tonya) of Lakeland, Florida; and Jeffrey (Anne) of London, England; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters: Diana (Dennis) Muth; Sharner Stucky; and Rebecca (Dennis) Dunne, and by Richard Croner. Janice was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Michael Trinklein and her brother Martin.
