JANICE M. (BIPPLEY) (FLEMING)WAGNER
Janice "Jan" M. (Bippley)(Fleming) Wagner, of Topeka, KS (formerly a long-time resident of Summerfield, FL), age 89, passed away Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka, KS after a car accident. She was born May 9, 1934, in Howell, MI, the daughter of Edward Lewis Bippley and Mildred (Hittle)(Bippley) Brenner and William "Bill" Brenner. Jan had been a typesetter with the Detroit News for many years and was a member of Detroit Typographical Union No. 18. She held various secretarial positions in her working career. Jan had been a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S.; member of The Moose; and member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Jan graduated from Howell High School class of 1952. She received her Associates Degree in Computer Science from Macomb County Community College, Warren, MI and attended San Diego Mesa College, San Diego, CA.
When the COVID 19 pandemic hit the U.S. in March of 2020 Jan was actively working at the age of 85. She was laid off and was eligible for Florida unemployment benefits. Jan was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Summerfield, FL where she was a choir member and participated in the bell choir. Jan moved to Topeka in April 2022. She was attending the South Knollwood Baptist Church. Jan enjoyed music, dancing, playing piano, Bingo, Mahjong, Rummy, Mexican Train Dominoes, and margaritas.
Jan was married to Donald E. "Hap" Wagner. He died July 7, 2004. Jan was previously married to Brian Greely (deceased), they divorced; previously married to Richard Fleming (deceased), they divorced; and previously married to Richard O'Regan (deceased), they divorced. Jan is survived by daughter Laura Kern (Mike) of Arlington, KY; daughter Julie Baxa (Dwayne) of Chesterfield, MI; son Matthew Fleming of Manhattan, New York; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her stepfather William "Bill" Brenner; her husband Donald "Hap" Wagner; brother James "Jim" (Bippley) O'Berry, stepbrother Bill Brenner; sister Jacqueline (Bippley) Heard, stepsister Bonnie (Brenner) Headrick, and halfsister Cindy Bippley. Cremation has taken place. A private family inurnment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Howell, MI at a later date.
